Hey folks! So, having more hubris than Icarus, I started my Jellybean Lab breeding project with very little knowledge of petz genetics. On top of it, I'm very bad at IDing certain traits on dogz. So now I'm a year into my breeding project and, while my labs are coming along, they have some tricky traits that I want to eliminate or keep but can't identify. I'm going to give some examples below, can you help me confirm/correct me on the breeds the traits originate from?:

In my experience, it is so hard sometimes to recognize traits at a glance. The best tool for this is actually a little program from Yabiko called Genepoolz; it tells you exactly which genes your pet is carrying from coat type to colors to feet to tongue. It has streamlined my projects sooo much. Plus, it can help you make sure you're breeding out those pesky recessive genes!
Hopefully that helps, cause these little guys are already looking adorable and I can't wait to see the finished product!

I second what audacity said about GenePoolz, though I will say, it doesn't always help you ID what's showing, just what traits it has altogether. I recently discovered this page on the website that inspired me to start selective breeding: web.archive.org/web/20091027122427fw_/http://www.geocities.com/gaealunavenus2/guide/dogz.htmlMaybe it can help you ID these traits? I will take a closer look myself in a bit, once I've done some real life errands, but maybe that can help you in the meantime. I admit, I'm not great and IDing traits and rely heavily on GenePoolz lol, but I'm gonna give it a shot!

Thanks for the help guys!
I def tried GenePoolz and, while helpful, did lead into the problem Rowan describes. However, that link helps a TON! Ty.

I'm glad it helped!
So, here are my thoughts, but I'm NOT good at IDing traits, so take it with a grain of salt.
In EX. 1, I think you have everything you've guessed correct. The only one I'm unsure of would be the ears, because Lab ears and Mutt ears have a lot of the same basic shape. The legs I think have to be Dachshund, don't they? I've been learning that the Scales can effect leg length, so being short legs doesn't 100% mean Dachshund, but I feel these probably are.
EX. 2. I believe those two dogs have the same feet. Probably Dali, but feet are hard lol. The legs also seem to be Dachshund. EDIT: Upon second glance, I don't believe those feet are Dali. They look bigger than the other dog's feet.
EX. 3. I don't believe C has different legs from A and B. I think it's the fur type/texture making them look different. If you look closely at A and B, you can see some of the same Linez outlines on the leg that C has, they are just harder to see because C is much less colored and textured. The feet don't look like the same feet as the previous dogs. They seem considerably smaller. It's hard for me to put a guess because Scales can certainly change the size of things, but I don't think they're Dali feet if all the other dogs in your post have Dali feet. EDIT: I now think these feet are Dali but the dogs in EX. 2 are bigger, so it threw me off lol.
Maybe I could help more if you put images of their GenePoolz profiles? That way we would only have to figure out what each trait is out of two options, instead of ten lol.
Hopefully I helped somewhat! I'm much more of a doer than a 'closely examine each trait to figure out what it is'-er rofl.
I REALLY like the look of this breed! Jellybean is the perfect name for it! I never would've thought to use the Sheepie body that way. Such good work.

I think you're just about right about example 1. But now I'm convinced that EX 1 actually has dach ears. But Dach legs sound right (I was on the same thinking pattern about the scales). The feet seem to be the rub for both of us here lol! They're so difficult. But I think you're on the money for the EX 2 and EX 3 pups. Here are the GenePoolz in order of appearance: EX 1
EX 2
EX 3
And thank you! <3 I pet I adopted years ago had this body shape and I loved it so much that I wanted 1000 more like him. I believe Catcreature came up with the name? But that's just off the top of my head.

I should've thought of Dachshund ears! They really threw me off when I was making my Rogue Collie!
Ex. 1 is definitely Dachshund ears. For feet now, my guess is Dachshund because I highly doubt they're lab feet.
EX. 2 I think has to have lab feet. They're bigger than Ex. 1.
EX. 3 all have dachshund feet according to GenePoolz. Very small and dainty compared to the feet in EX. 3. What may be making the legs look different too is the Leg Extension number. There's quite a variation between ALL the dogs, but I'm like 99% sure they have Dachshund legs.

I think we've cracked it! The feet IDs make sense and I have a better idea here of what I want to eliminate/propagate.
And you're right about them having a lot of variation. That's the cost of some sloppy work by me at the start of the project. I'm still learning as I go along! Hopefully, now I'm better prepared. Thank you so much for your help!
