I think the first time I ever heard about Selective Breeds was from Vickie, someone who was a huge part of the petz community a long time ago. She had a website dedicated to ones she had created. Back then, I only had Petz 5, but I made a good number of my own breeds in that game. My first was basically a german shepherd with sheepdog fuzziness and the sheepdog marking. I think the original version I made had a variety of other markings as well, but the original was lost because the files were too big and I didn't know tree trimming was a thing, so all the files corrupted. I made a 2nd version, but it was never the same.
I made a variety of other breeds, but again, they were all in Petz 5.
It took a while for me to get my hands on Petz 4, but when I did, I of course picked up selective breeding again. I believe my first Petz 4 attempt was a dali with great dane ears, but I never finished it.
A couple years ago, I made another attempt at a selective breed.
I call them Texas Collies.
I go in cycles with petz, where I don't play for a year or two and then pick it up again like I never left. So when I came back this time, I decided the Collies could use some upgrades. They were lacking some of my favorite markings, like the white chest patch. So I crossed them with a Tamsin and created the Texas Collie V.2.
This added more mutt patches as well as Dali spots. Sadly, it did result in the addition of Dali ears as well, but I didn't care to breed them out when everything else was perfect.
When attempting to make the V.2, I produced a short haired version and fell in love so I made that its own breed.
The "Smooth Collie" as I've been calling it, has dali fur and a dali tail and doesn't have the sheepdog marking, but everything else is identical to the original and V.2.
But was that enough for me? Nope, I decided I wanted Bully ears and a Bully Tail. The tail still hasn't worked out, but...
I think the ears look pretty darn good. Honestly, they look better in the game. They're held at a weird angle in poses.
In addition to the original collie, I also made a cat breed a few years ago.
I don't plan on making any changes or additions to this, because how do you improve perfection? lol. Fluffy tail, white chest patch, tail tip, and even a little white stripe on the face, a variety of colors, and those sweet wide eyes... Just perfect.
So who else loves making selective breeds? Show off yours! Or talk about ones you are working on or would like to make!
